Tässä vielä kaikki hyvin. Kotipellon kurkipari on ajanut pois vieraan kurjen ja iloitsee tätä yhteisellä fanfaarilla. Myös toinen poikasista on mukana, toinen sivummalla. Seuraavana päivänä vain aikuiset tulivat näytille. Yön aikana molemmat poikaset on menetetty. Suru on suuri, niin meillä, kuin arvatenkin myös heillä.

So far so good. "Our" Cranes (Grus grus) are jointly triumphing after having expelled an intruding adult male from their home patch, with both chicks rejoicing. In the evening, well before sunset, I watched them retreat to the forest, where they usually spent their nights. Next morning, on June 14th, only the adults appeared from the forest. During the night they had lost both of their chicks and we, as well as surely they too, are devastated.
